Associate Professor Dr. Rosmaini Tasmin
Dr. Rosmaini Tasmin is currently an Associate Professor at Faculty of Technology Management and Business, UTHM. He was the Director of University and Industry Relations Office, the Assistant Vice Chancellor Office for Industry and Community Relations, UTHM. Previously, he was also the Deputy Director of Strategic and Quality Management Office, UTHM. He earned his PhD in corporate Knowledge Management (KM) from Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya, Malaysia in 2008. His doctoral thesis was on structural equation modeling (SEM) of knowledge management and innovation among multinational firms focusing on large manufacturers’ segment in Peninsular Malaysia. He pursued technology management studies at Masters level in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) for which he was awarded Master in Technology Management in 2001. His bachelor degree is in Computer Science Engineering, BSc. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) which he obtained from the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) in the United States of America in Fall 1991. Dr. Tasmin has had over 10 years of industrial working experience in multinational corporations, such as Sony Video Malaysia, Sumitomo Electric (JB) and Thomson Mechatronics (USA group). He had served several ranks in corporate ladders from computer-aided testing engineer, senior process engineer, assistant production planning manager and his last industrial designation as the production manager at Thomson Mechatronics. In 1997, he was awarded the prestigious FUJITSU Asia-Pacific Scholarship Programme (FAPSP) Award by Fujitsu Ltd. Japan, as a selected scholar to study International Management at the Japan-America Institute of Management Science (JAIMS) in collaboration with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, USA. At JAIMS Honolulu, he was voted to be the recipient of Student of Choice Award 1997 and the Gold Winner of the Presidential Speech. A major part of his working, training, teaching, and research experience involves multinational corporations, manufacturing resources planning (MRP) systems ~ SAP, Oracle and Movex, lean manufacturing, knowledge management, innovation and quality management. He is currently the Head of Service and Operation Management (SOM) Research Focus group. His recent interest in research areas of train system assurance (SA), big data management, cloud computing, the Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile service oriented computing.
